Resetting Data

All JwC data is held in a series of private databases, all but the Primary dedicated to specific tasks, such as storing Photographs.

Nearly all are meant to be specific to one, and only one, Congregation.

Reset's primary purpose is to remove all data regarding a specific Congregation in which you no longer serve as an elder.

The Resetting Data button on the opening page removes nearly all contained PRIMARY data.

It DOES NOT remove personal notes, maps, photos, user settings, Service Calls, and "other phones" you've added unless you specifically request that.

However notes (other than for Service Calls and Other Phones), maps (other than for Service Calls), and photos become inaccessible until the associated entities (person, place) are again created.

However, if, on bringing in new initial data you indicate you have changed congregations, such previous notes, maps, and photos are removed as well.

Should any database become corrupted you can use Reset to restore JwC to "like new", except for Settings.

It may be, in time, the makeup of one or more of the databases will need to be adjusted as JwC further matures.

That usually would require copying all of the old database's data into the newer version, then deleting the old.

This has not yet been tackled but it is hoped it will never be necessary to ask you to Reset all data just to install a newer JwC version.
